Do you do the same thing over and over? Drive the same way to work. Sit in the same seat. Eat the same thing at your favorite restaurant. We are creatures of habit. It's normal but sometimes, we get stuck in autopilot.
Chris Barez-Brown, author of three best sellers and national speaker - believes as leaders, we want to inspire and we want to lead with great heart, but more often than not we find ourselves stuck. We find ourselves too busy or too overwhelmed to enjoy what’s in front of us.
To be a leader with great heart we have to get off autopilot. We will always choose the path we've chosen before, but is that always the right one? The definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Chris has 3 principle to get off autopilot:
- Breathe better. Take a deep breath. Calm yourself. Take a moment to pause and let go of the busyness that often consumes us.
- Have fun. Laugh, giggle, smile. Let loose and enjoy where you are.
- Check in with yourself. Ask, “What’s needed here?” and “What’s needed now?”
We dare you, do something different. Something you've never done before. Try a new dish at the restaurant you go to every Friday. Oh yeah, and don't forget to smile and laugh.
